ONTARIO STEAM HERITAGE MUSEUM
Dedicated to Restoration, Preservation & Education

The Age of Steam

Dawn of Industrial Era

Preserve & Restore

Bringing to life the steam engines and equipment from the age of steam is our legacy.  We operate the largest private collection of Cdn Steam Traction Engines.

Operation & Tours

The Museum locomotives and equipment are operated regularly.  You can arrange a Private Tour of the static display, and weather permitting, a live steam engine tour of the grounds, and maybe  even "belt-up" a period saw mill or shingle mill.

Limestone Central Railway

We are a registered Museum which allows us to receive donations like the historic Vulcan Locomotive that once worked the Trent Canal. Join and be a part of the "Limestone Central Railwayproject underway at the Museum

WHY?

ABOUT

There is an innate beauty and wonder in history. The Museum celebrates Canadian ingenuity and invention during the Steam Era and helps many of us to make a personal, sensual connection through sight,  sound, touch and smell as the exhibits and exhibitors bring steam History alive, to rekindle, awaken and inspire.

Ontario's early manufacturing technologies began in the age of steam.  A visit to the Museum will bring you to that bygone Era of practical science in 19th Century Ontario.

Come with us, take history for inspiration, ....discover, enjoy and awaken  your imagination.

History is for human self knowledge.......the only clue to what man can do, is what man has done.
