MENTORING & SPONSORING

The restoration of an historical artifact from a bygone era presents many challenges.  There are a limited number of engines available that will require complete restoration to operate and respect their original design.  The available resources of financial capital, raw material, equipment, specialty tools and parts are limited.  Moreover, there were no manuals produced to document the construction of the steam traction locomotives and the mechanics and technicians of that era have passed away. Fortunately the Museum is one of the few places in the World that has the knowledge and practical applied experience to complete a 100% restoration of a steam locomotive project.   The Museum provides invaluable guidance, direction, mentoring and support to a number of private enthusiasts who are recreating Ontario's Steam Heritage as living legacy to theAge of Steam.
